Insurance

Protect what matters.

Specialist insurance for property owners, businesses and community organisations. We make the introduction; our FCA-authorised broker gives the advice and places the cover.

Insurance services

The sectors we can get covered.

Specialist rather than comparison-site insurance: the kind where the building is listed, the business is unusual, or the organisation is run by volunteers and nobody will quote.

01 / Restaurants

Restaurant insurance

Cover for restaurants, takeaways, cafes and food businesses, where stock, equipment, public liability and business interruption all have to line up.

02 / Property

Property & real estate

Property owners and portfolios, blocks and tenanted buildings, plus listed buildings and heritage assets, which most standard insurers will not touch.

03 / Business

Business & contractors

Commercial insurance for trading businesses, contractors and wholesalers, including liability, plant, stock and contract works.

04 / Community

Community & culture

Charities, village halls, museums and galleries. Buildings in constant public use, often with collections or equipment that need valuing properly.

05 / Sport

Sport & leisure

Sports and leisure trusts, cricket clubs and community amateur sports clubs. Grounds, pavilions, members and volunteers.

06 / Hospitality

Hospitality & specialist sectors

Hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses, plumbing and heating businesses, and professional practices needing indemnity cover.

The arrangement

How it works.

01 / You tell us

What needs covering

The property, the business or the organisation, what it does and what is at stake. A short conversation, not a form-filling exercise.

02 / You speak to a broker

One of our FCA-approved partners

With your consent, a no-obligation call with an FCA-approved insurance broker who works in these sectors every day and knows which insurers will look at them.

03 / They advise

By an FCA-approved insurance broker

They assess what you need, recommend cover and place it. The advice, the recommendation and the policy are theirs.

04 / You decide

In your own time

Nothing is committed until you say so. You see the cover, the exclusions and the premium before anything goes ahead.

Why bother with a specialist

The cases where a comparison site stops working.

  • The building is listed, or heritage. Reinstatement has to be costed on like-for-like materials and traditional methods, which is a different number from rebuild cost on a modern property. Get it wrong and you are underinsured before anything happens.
  • The occupancy is unusual. Tenanted blocks, part-vacant buildings, properties mid-refurbishment and mixed-use all sit outside standard property owners' wordings.
  • Volunteers are involved. Village halls, clubs and charities carry liabilities that the people running them rarely price properly, and trustees can be personally exposed.
  • The trade is on an insurer's awkward list. Food businesses, plumbing and heating, contractors working at height. Not uninsurable, just not online.
  • Business interruption is the real risk. For a restaurant or a hotel, the fire is survivable and the months closed afterwards often are not. Indemnity periods are where that is won or lost.

None of that is advice, and we are not the ones giving it. It is the reason we point people at a broker who does this rather than at a price comparison page.

FAQ

Insurance, answered.

Does Hunter Grey arrange the insurance?

No. We make the introduction. The advice and the placement are provided by one of our FCA-approved insurance partners, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Hunter Grey is not FCA authorised.

Does it cost anything to be introduced?

No. There is no charge for the introduction. We may receive a referral payment from our insurance partner, and any fee or premium is set out by them before anything is agreed.

Do I have to be a finance client?

No. The introduction is open to you whether or not we arrange finance for you.

My building is listed. Is that a problem?

It is the kind of case a specialist broker exists for. Listed and heritage buildings need reinstatement costed on traditional materials and methods, which most standard policies are not written around.

Can you cover a charity or village hall?

Yes, that is one of the sectors our insurance partners work in, along with museums, galleries, sports and leisure trusts and community amateur sports clubs.
